The W chair is inspired by GE250, which is a lesser known chair by H. J. Wegner. The chair has a simple construction, consisting of two elements; a steel frame and a crocheted seat. The steel frame is composed of two frames, one wrapping around the other, and to emphasize this, they are connected by a 8mm distance-piece. The crocheted seat is made from 100 meters of cotton string, which is crocheted onto the frame and fastened with itself, thereby keeping the simplicity of the construction. The two elements that form the chair, create a contrast between the cold look of the steel frame and the warm look of the crocheted seat.
Like the original chair, there is a W incorporated into the design. Whereas the W is on the backrest of the original chair, the W in our chair is seen in the profile of the legs, which also gives the chair a dynamic look. The W chair is a lounge chair, that addresses itself for both indoor and outdoor use.
