From Middle Ages to today: on the occasion of the 2012 Bologna Water Design Fair and 2013 Fuorisalone in Milan, Alhambretto has presented a contemporary edition of the ancient carafe-and-basin set. Basin, created by both of Alhambretto designers, is a washbasin that embodies a modern reinterpretation of the ancient ritual of washing. This project represents a link between past and present, aimed at reviving and modernizing old forgotten practices.

Basin, created by both of Alhambretto designers, is a washbasin that embodies a modern reinterpretation of the ancient ritual of washing. This project represents a link between past and present, aimed at reviving and modernizing old forgotten practices.
The ancient carafe-and-basin set is now a freestanding washbasin, featuring an out-and-out carafe. Available in several hues from white to dove-grey, this product reinterprets old objects and also offers a new interpretation of the regular washbasin. Its conical shape made of several sheets layering one on another reminds of clay vases, providing a new kind of washbasin which combines beauty and functionality all together. Inspired by ancient times yet more than up to date, this piece of design hangs perfectly in the balance between past and present.
