Avenida Central Building: a truly amazing building

The building designed by Emilio Alvarez Abouchard is based on the concept of "universal accessibility"

The Avenida Central Building is a building located in Mexico, and was built in 2019 by Emilio Alvarez Abouchard with the aim of contributing to the development of one of the most beautiful streets in the place.

The neighborhood
The Avenida Central Building is located in the Mexican neighborhood of Chapultepec Norte, in the city of Morelia. This urban area developed in the late 60s, and is characterized by the contrast between colonial urbanism and the architecture of the historic center; For this reason, this area is an ideal place for the development of some modern and characteristic buildings.
The building designed by Emilio Alvarez Abouchard takes its name from the street on which it stands, Avenida Central; the latter is considered as the most beautiful street in the city, not only for the annual flowering of its large Jacaranda trees, characterized by flowers ranging from blue to purple, but also for its avant-garde urban architecture.
The uniqueness of this street derives in particular from its wide sidewalks and its dense landscaped park, two extremely important concepts thanks to which traffic is slowed down and an environment suitable for pedestrians and bicycles is created.

The building
Avenida Central Building has a total area of 400 m2 organized on four levels; The spaces are connected by an external staircase, which runs along the south façade of the building.
On the ground floor, the building recedes on both sides to create an outdoor terrace on the sidewalk and to relegate a parking space to the rear. The first and second floors are dedicated to the Dermatology Center, with natural light illuminating all areas thanks to the U-Glass glass façade. The third floor, on the other hand, is characterized by a large terrace, which allows you to enjoy the skyline of the city and also the towers of the pink limestone cathedral from the 1700s.

In such a building, based on the concept of “universal accessibility”, it is essential that all rooms are always available to visitors, including the terrace; Given the surface area of the terrace and the pollution that is always lurking, this is definitely a daunting task for any vacuum cleaner.
