From January 26 to February 2, 2025, the Brussels Expo will host the 70th edition of the BRAFA Art Fair, one of the most prestigious art fairs in Europe. This annual event, which attracts collectors, experts and enthusiasts from all over the world, celebrates its seventieth anniversary with an extraordinary edition, featuring an exclusive selection of works of art, antiques and design of the highest level.
Founded in 1956, the BRAFA (Brussels Art Fair) has become a reference point for the international art market. Each year, the fair welcomes over 130 galleries from more than 15 countries, offering an overview that ranges from ancient art to contemporary art, up to exceptional design.
This special edition promises to exceed expectations, with a program that celebrates seven decades of artistic excellence through an eclectic selection of works, from the old masters to the latest trends in modern art.
Visitors will be able to admire and purchase works by masters of painting, sculpture and decorative arts, with proposals ranging from Renaissance and Baroque paintings to works by world-renowned contemporary artists. The participating galleries will feature works by celebrated artists such as Pablo Picasso, Joan Miró, René Magritte and Marc Chagall, as well as rare pieces of Flemish art and period artefacts of outstanding historical value.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the event, BRAFA 2025 will offer a special program of conferences and meetings with art historians, collectors and curators of world-renowned museums. Talks will be organized on topics such as the art market, collecting and restoration, as well as a focus on new trends in the sector.
In addition, in this edition space will be given to digital art and immersive installations, with works that explore the combination of technology and creativity.
The prestigious guest of honor
Guest of honor of this edition, Joana Vasconcelos, one of the most internationally acclaimed contemporary artists and who will bring her bold and innovative artistic vision to BRAFA 2025 .
Born in France but Portuguese by origin, Vasconcelos is famous for her monumental works that blend traditional craftsmanship and everyday materials, creating sculptures and installations with a strong visual and conceptual impact. Her art explores themes related to identity, feminism and contemporary society, using techniques ranging from embroidery and lace to metal, ceramics and recycled objects. At BRAFA 2025, Vasconcelos will present a selection of iconic works, including his celebrated textile sculptures and site-specific installations, capable of transforming the exhibition space into an immersive and engaging environment.
