Milan – On Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 6:30 PM, the Hall of Honor at Triennale Milano will host an evening to present and experience firsthand the work of Michele Tombolini, which ranges from painting to collage to photography, through his latest works as part of the cycle I Riflessi dell’Anima (Reflections of the Soul).

The event, part of the Triennale Estate calendar, is an opportunity to discover the eclectic, striking, yet delicate artistic creation of Tombolini. Through his art, he expresses the subtle and precious testimony of life, contemporary society, and the human condition, of which it is both expression and evolution. The primitivist current, of which he feels a precursor, is the breath that creates intense pictorial works, reflecting and redesigning the human figure by capturing its childlike, infantile aspect, employing an introspective power that allows the viewer to grasp its inner emotions.

Soul and emotions are one and the same, a reciprocal mirror that enables the artist to open a new artistic cycle that includes the tapestry work Errore Umano (Human Mistake), where the preciousness of gold meets the fragility of the developing child, once again the protagonist of Tombolini’s production. This is a material synthesis reflection that seeks to delve into the difficulties arising from violence and issues often faced by many children.

This theme is also present in Rifugio d’Orato (Golden Shelter), a painting from 2023, where gold is enriched with butterflies, frequently appearing in Michele Tombolini’s works as a symbol against aggression. The works on display aim to highlight a very important reflection of the soul for the artist, one that his art has always embraced: the fight against all forms of child abuse, which unfortunately often occur during the growth phases. What emotions lie behind traumatic events during childhood? How do these events affect the emotional development of an individual? In the mirrors of the soul, brought to the fore here, a subjective interpretation of an inner truth emerges, enabling the confrontation of everyday reality, liberated from an unjustly guilty silence. Here, the wound is bandaged with an emblematic and courageous butterfly, which frees itself from silence by healing, communicating its personal and continuous silent flight.

I Riflessi dell’Anima (Reflections of the Soul) also features the looped projection of the video Indelible Marks, created in 2016, a short film lasting about 15 minutes.

The presentation at Triennale Milano thus inaugurates a new path of artistic-emotional reflections that Michele Tombolini will enrich from time to time to express the voice of the soul and the emotions related to social issues. These issues whisper to him a personal artistic interpretation made up of totemic figures, employing various expressive techniques ranging from painting, collage, and photography to the use of Venetian fabrics and brocades enhanced by gold leaf.

Michele Tombolini‘s participation in Triennale Estate has been organized by Francesca Parvizyar, who manages the artist’s international relations, opening doors for new artistic projects overseas, particularly in the USA and Canada, starting in September 2024.

I Riflessi dell’Anima (Reflections of the Soul) is supported by Italmondo, a leader in logistics and international transport for over 70 years, and Artistinct – This is Art, a cultural artistic ecosystem committed to elevating the global art scene.
