In the heart of Madrid, in Calle Santa Engracia, the new Egeo opens, a restaurant dedicated to Greek cuisine reinterpreted in a contemporary key. The project is once again signed by Masquespacio, the interior design studio led by Ana Hernández and Christophe Penasse, which after the first collaboration in Valencia returns to work with the brand, marking a clear stylistic and conceptual evolution. The result is a 50-square-meter space that abandons the initial liveliness to embrace a more mature, reflective and narrative dimension.
The concept of the project takes inspiration from the myth of Pandora, a symbolic figure of Greek mythology: by opening the famous box, Pandora releases all evil into the world, but leaves hope at the bottom. This story becomes the key to interpreting the interior, transformed into an environment that speaks of duality, resilience and beauty that comes from experience. Masquespacio thus builds a place capable of stimulating the senses and, at the same time, inviting contemplation, where design and gastronomy meet in a coherent narrative.
From a material and chromatic point of view, the space stands out for a palette of soft and enveloping beige tones, chosen to convey calm, balance and refinement. This neutral base is flanked by touches of electric blue, a subtle but recognizable reference to the visual identity of the Egeo brand, which introduces a contemporary note without breaking the overall harmony. The resulting atmosphere is intimate, sophisticated and at the same time welcoming, designed to accompany the culinary experience.
An iconic element of the project are the covered columns made by 3D printing, characterized by a layered and organic texture. These surfaces evoke the solidity and materiality of marble quarries, but at the same time reinterpret the imagery of ancient Greek architecture in a modern key. The deliberately dramatic shapes create a dialogue between past and present, between classical monumentality and contemporary technology, becoming the visual fulcrum of the space.
As Ana Hernández explains, the project stems from the desire to offer a more introspective reading of the brand: an environment that recognizes Egeo’s path in the Greek restaurant scene and translates it into a deeper visual language. The myth of Pandora allows us to explore the contrast between difficulty and hope, transforming it into a design that does not focus on immediacy, but on a layered beauty, to be discovered over time.
The new Egeo in Madrid is not just a restaurant, but a meeting place between gastronomic culture and interior design, where every formal and material choice contributes to building a complete sensory experience. Masquespacio thus confirms its ability to create narrative spaces, capable of going beyond aesthetics to become true inhabitable stories.
With this intervention, the Egeo brand takes a decisive step towards a more conscious and identity-based dimension, while Madrid welcomes a new example of catering design that combines myth, technology and contemporaneity in a surprising balance.
