From 6 to 28 November 2024, the Enoteca Cuvée Winexperience in Milan hosts the exhibition In Viaggio – Works by Antonio Franchi, an exhibition that invites visitors to explore a world of emotions through the evocative use of color. Organized by Independent Artists in collaboration with Cuvée Winexperience and Hysteria Art Gallery, the exhibition opens on Wednesday 6 November at 19:00, bringing the vibrant and abstract world of the Sienese artist directly into the everyday life of the public.
Antonio Franchi, born in Siena in 1968, is an artist with a unique background: after classical studies and a degree in Law, he deepened his artistic vocation at the New Academy of Fine Arts (NABA) in Milan. His career took a significant turn at the turn of the new millennium, when he approached action painting and abstract expressionism, inspired by the great American masters. The 2014 meeting with Eugenio Carmi further refined his approach to painting, bringing out a personal, abstract and meaningful language.
His works are an invitation to travel beyond the simple visual representation of places. At the center of his artistic poetics, in fact, we find color, dense and mellow, which replaces form and becomes the main protagonist. Through the use of spatulas of different sizes and the overlapping of layers of color, Franchi creates works in which the colors not only recall the physicality of the place represented, but also evoke the memories and perceptions that each of us associates with that space. Each painting, with its layers and nuances, presents itself as a stratification of sensory experiences, where vivid and iridescent color combinations emerge with an almost tangible expressive force.
This exhibition at the Enoteca Cuvée represents a unique opportunity to observe Franchi’s works in an alternative context, far from traditional art galleries. The combination of the walls of the wine shop and the canvases full of color allows a direct and accessible interaction, in which art is intertwined with the daily life of the viewers. In a certain sense, Franchi gives life back to the place he represents, translating it into a chromatic language that transcends tangible reality to reach the intimate and imaginative sphere.
