OPEN STUDIO vol.2 – “Bokeh: the vindication of the multitudes”

Not a simple event, but a real multisensory experience to explore the complexity of the human being through art

On May 3, 2024, in via Angelo Minotti 7 in Rho, the studio of iron sculptor Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti was transformed into a lively artistic center for the second edition of the Open Studio. Not a simple event, but a real multisensory experience to explore the complexity of the human being through art.

Organized by the galleries “Hysteria Art Gallery” in Milan and “La Galleria del Quadrifoglio” in Rho, and curated by journalist Simona Maggi, founder of the Eu-noé project, the event saw the participation of seven artists in addition to Giancotti: Alessandra Carloni, Alessandro Di Vicino Gaudio, Andrea Bertoletti, Martina Zito, Riccardo Bonfadini, Sofia Except and Zena Santoro. Together, these eight creatives presented works that challenge the traditional boundaries of art and perception.

The term “Bokeh”, which means “blur” in Japanese, was chosen to represent the essence of the exhibition. It embodies the intrinsic contradictions in the human being and in the phenomena that involve him, reflecting a constantly changing reality. Giancotti uses the line, typically used to delimit spaces and simplify complex realities, as a tool to explore the layered intimacy of the individual. His art highlights how each person is composed of a multitude of identities, unable to be reduced to a single specificity.

The works on display blur boundaries and blur contours, celebrating the indefinite. The participating artists have intertwined their works in a continuous dialogue leading to the discovery of inhomogeneous identities, contested places and short circuits that permeate everyday life. This interweaving wanted to highlight the call of every existing entity: to be recognized in its totality and complexity.

The exhibition offered not only static exhibitions, but also live performances, video installations, music and experimental dance, creating an immersive and dynamic environment. A unique opportunity for visitors who were able to recognize themselves as multitudes among the multitudes, on a journey that wanted to enhance the diversity and richness of the human experience.

Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti’s Open Studio was, without a doubt, an unmissable event for contemporary art lovers and anyone interested in exploring the depths of human identity through artistic language.
