Redesigning a kitchen? Here’s where to start!

Some tips for renovating your kitchen in the best possible way

After a few years, it happens that the environment around us at home no longer satisfies us, it appears old and worn. This applies to the living room, the bedroom but, above all, to the kitchen, the most used and lived-in room. For this reason, there is a desire for a new breath, renewing it. How to deal with this sometimes unpredictable path? Here are some tips to ensure that the renovation of our kitchen takes place in the best possible way.

Detailed planning and budgeting

If you don’t want to run the risk of facing unexpected and out-of-budget expenses, you can make a list of what you want to change, such as appliances, table, chairs, door doors or knobs, and get an idea of how much you would spend on a partial renovation. If, on the other hand, we do not have spending limits, we can entirely replace the old kitchen with a new model, perhaps equipped with a central island, ideal for the placement of the hob. In the last decade, open spaces have become increasingly popular, combining living areas with kitchens. Today you can design the kitchen in 3D without having to pay an architect, just use online kitchen configurators who will design for you.

Focus on the best coatings
In modern kitchens, the choice of materials for coverings is essential to ensure durability, functionality and aesthetics. When designing your countertop, it is essential to consider heat and impact resistance, which is why it is important to choose the best materials such as Okite and Silestone. The first is composed of 93% quartz and the remaining 7% sands and resins, it is very porous and therefore does not absorb moisture and is very hygienic. The second is a quartz agglomerate with antibacterial protection. Both are an ideal option due to their extreme scratch resistance. For those looking for an affordable and versatile solution, laminate is an excellent choice. Easy to clean and available in a wide range of finishes, it offers a refined look without compromising on budget. A modern alternative is HPL, composed of layers of resin-coated papers, which offers considerable resistance. Natural stones, such as marble and granite, remain timeless for the creation of the worktop, combining resistance and elegance. When it comes to doors, the Fenix is a popular choice due to its matte laminate that is resistant to fingerprints left by fingers. Other options include lacquered doors, which give a shiny and elegant effect, although they are more prone to staining. Tempered glass is a striking choice for modern kitchens, offering resistance to heat and impact, but requires special attention to cleaning. For the floor, porcelain stoneware is the predominant choice, especially in the versions that imitate parquet. Its increased resistance to moisture and heat makes it ideal for the kitchen environment. Resin is an emerging option, particularly popular for an industrial style, with its seamless surface and ease of cleaning.

Tax

When renovating a kitchen, it is important to be up-to-date on the tax breaks for the purchase of furniture and appliances. Until December 31, 2024, tax bonuses can be obtained thanks to the 2023 furniture bonus. This benefit allows 50% of the expenses incurred to be subtracted from taxable income. During 2023, the maximum deductible amount is set at 8,000 euros, while for 2024 it stands at 5,000 euros. Eligible expenses include the purchase of the hob, sink, oven, as well as those related to furniture and furnishing accessories, such as sideboards, sofas, chandeliers and the related installation costs. Household appliances are also included in the deduction, as long as they are at least energy class A+. It is important to note that only the expenses related to the purchase of the oven are deductible even if the appliance is classified as class A.
