The 3 simple tricks from the experts to beautify the hallway of your home

How to give that touch of class and elegance that any home deserves

Embellishing a corridor is not as simple as it may seem, even more so if we think that there are different types. Some houses, in fact, are equipped with long rectangular corridors, others instead have square corridors, mostly exposed to good lighting. In short, each room needs different tricks and decorations, and in this article we would like to introduce you to some of the most used tricks to give hallways that touch of class and elegance that any home deserves.

Plants in the corners
Especially with regard to corridors with a square plan, it can be very pleasant to arrange plants in the corners of the perimeter. According to design experts, plants can be arranged differently and, depending on the lighting in the room, we can evaluate whether to choose plants suitable for shade or plants that need exposure to sunlight.
In general, you may want to apply two pots, one at the entrance to the hallway on the right corner, and one at the end of the room in the opposite corner. This will allow the corridor to be given momentum and make it wider and more elegant. If your hallway is actually very long and amplifying its size is not your intention, the most suitable choice would be to place the potted plant in the middle of the hallway, preferably on the right side (if it is free).

Spotlights or neon lights
Applying lighting on the ceiling, or along the walls of your hallway, could be a good idea if the hallway in question has a rectangular plan and poor lighting. This type of environment, which is very common in reality, is dark and rather narrow. We could also think of a corridor in an apartment or office equipped with fire windows, which allow a certain level of lighting to shine through during the day.
In these cases, the ideal could be the application of lights and neon lighting, which will have the function of illuminating the various sections of the corridor and at the same time giving a much more chic look to the environment. For this type of corridor, the application of pots and plants is not recommended, unless the personal taste of the homeowner allows it. It could be wise to combine it with canvases or pictures applied to the walls, so as to make the bare walls pleasant and adorned.

Shelves or bookcases
If your home has an elongated hallway, it might be a good idea to put shelves on the walls. Frequently the corridor is considered a passageway, whose sole purpose is to allow transit into the bedrooms or living room. By placing shelves or storage compartments, you could enhance your hallway with sober wooden shelves that can be arranged on several levels.
An even brighter idea would be to adapt the corridor to a bookcase, so as to make the environment indispensable for consulting study books or for storing the novels you have finished reading. It is clear that this solution lends itself better to specific types of corridors. It is essential that this space is equipped with discreet lighting (natural or artificial) and even better if equipped with elegant floors, an enveloping wooden parquet would stand out among all.

Attention to the furnishings
As we have seen, it is possible to make the corridor of the house more pleasant with really simple tricks, which do not necessarily require expensive renovations or structural changes to the apartment. Particular attention, however, must be given to the furniture. In the case of narrow and elongated corridors, the use of bedside tables or cabinets is strongly discouraged, as they can be bulky. In the case of slightly rarer circular corridors, these can give you more freedom such as integrating mosaics or illuminated display cabinets. Following the new trend, however, our advice is to dose the decorations for your hallway well, remembering that very often “less is more” and that too much is often too much!
