The Hotel Show Dubai will celebrate its twentieth edition during the Middle East Design and Hospitality Week 2019 which will be held from 17 to 19 September at the Dubai World Trade Centre. The landmark event that has evolved in tandem with the GCC’s leisure and hospitality sector, over the past two decades, will be a confluence of key discussions and important decisions regarding the industry.
According to Alpen Capital’s GCC Hospitality Report, “the GCC hotel market is expected to reach $32.5 billion in 2022.” A strong increase due to the imminent inauguration of Expo 2020 in Dubai and other important global events that will be hosted in the region. Ventures Onsite’s hotel market report indicates that around 25 million visitors are likely to arrive in the UAE for Expo 2020 in preparation for which “Dubai’s hotel room supply is expected to reach 132,000 in 2019, with the Emirate aiming to complete 160,000 hotel rooms by October 2020”.
The report predicts that the UAE will continue to lead the GCC’s luxury hospitality segment through 2022 with “73% of the existing luxury hotel stock and 61% of the region’s gas pipeline located in the country”. During this time period, the Report also predicts that “KSA will see the most significant increase in luxury hotel offering.”
In addition to the Kingdom’s drive to become a center of recreation and entertainment in the region, “the cornerstone of KSA’s inbound tourism will be the annual Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages, which are estimated to increase to 30 million visitors collectively.”, reveals Ventures Onsite.
The GCC tourism industry has also seen an increase in millennial travellers in recent years. A trend that is expected to continue to increase and for which the hospitality sector in the Middle East is ready to satisfy.
Nathan Waugh, Portfolio Director – dmg events Hospitality Division said:
“The GCC hospitality industry is focused on being at its best when tourists from around the world visit the UAE for the event of Expo and other international attractions scheduled in the GCC. For this reason, The Hotel Show Dubai, true to its heritage, will be a point of confluence for the GCC hotel sector ready to show the way forward for an industry on the threshold of a new boom. Without forgetting that this year’s edition will be flanked by six other events that are aimed at sectors complementary to the hotel industry”.
