The use of technology in art: a symbiosis that is blossoming?

Technology and art: two worlds that inevitably collide

Art and technology may seem to be two absolutely distinct fields, but delving deeper into their etymology you can discover an interesting fact: both words have as their ultimate meaning that of “know-how”: after all, what is an artist if not a kind of scientist/inventor who tries to create his work on a canvas through colors?

In the era in which we find ourselves, technology has now taken over every environment of society we know, one of these is in fact art.
Thanks to the technological innovations of our time, new artists have the opportunity to use increasingly advanced tools to reach a new level of expression never seen before.
Technology also makes all the works created in the old and new era completely accessible to the public: we are referring, for example, to platforms such as Google Arts and Culture which, through a sort of online game, allows you to admire works in high definition, exhibited in the most famous museums in the world, participating in an incredible virtual visit.

Technology not only helps artists to create new works never seen before, but also helps to put the oldest works that we all know in a new light: in fact, more and more galleries and museums are using technological tools to best enhance the most famous works in the history of art and to make the experience for the public more and more interactive and no longer passive as it once was.
A clear example of this change was the multimedia exhibition “Van Gogh Alive, The Experience”, produced by Grande Exhibition. In this virtual tour, all the works of the well-known Dutch artist were shown in a completely new and colorful environment and with sounds and vibrations in the background, completely immersing the public who participated in this new activity.

The goal now is to understand if technology will completely prevail over art: in fact, thanks to new technological tools, art is “getting more and more rejuvenated”, giving new life to this magnificent practice. The doubt is whether, with the passage of time, the old canvases or the well-known sculptures will disappear, to make room or new databases with all the collected works of art history, in order to make it easier and faster for the public to view.
However, this is impossible to understand at this time, we just have to wait!
