Located in the Teddington district of southwest London, this three-bedroom Victorian home has been transformed into a modern and functional space that celebrates natural light, authentic materials and contemporary design.
The heart of the intervention is the opening of the ground floor towards the garden, which has led to the creation of a unique environment where the kitchen, dining area and living room blend harmoniously. Before the renovation, the house suffered from the classic problems of Victorian terraces: a narrow corridor kitchen, underused corridors and separate rooms. Forgeworks has been able to seize these challenges as opportunities, generating a fluid, bright space perfect for everyday life.
One of the elements that immediately catches the eye is the large custom-made concrete kitchen island, six meters long and designed to be the fulcrum for both meal preparation and conviviality. Around it is a completely customized kitchen in birch plywood, which combines functionality and aesthetic cleanliness in perfect Scandinavian style.
The skilful use of natural light is another key point of the project: five skylights and a large pivoting door allow the entire room to be deeply illuminated and, when opened, create a fluid connection with the outdoor terrace. These elements not only enhance lighting, but also strengthen the link between inside and outside.
The architectural style adopted by Forgeworks is characterized by clean lines and honest materials: white-painted bricks, stainless steel, light gray concrete and black cedar wood cladding for the exterior extension. This visual language recalls the elegance of Scandinavian design, giving the home a contemporary and refined aesthetic, without sacrificing practicality.
The renovation also involved the sleeping area: a cold and uncomfortable room was transformed into a bright home office, while the new family bathroom reflects a monolithic and clean approach thanks to the terrazzo resin. In addition, the entire ground floor has been insulated to ensure better energy efficiency, in line with the needs of a modern and sustainable home.
A House of Birch represents more than just a renovation: it is a project that balances contemporary design, everyday functionality and respect for the history of the building. Forgeworks demonstrates how a home can evolve with the family that lives in it, offering comfort, space and style in every detail.

INFO: Daniel Nelson - October Communications

65252,65254,65256,65258,65260,65262,65264,65266
["GET
