New trends and great masters: Art Basel Paris 2024 celebrates global art in the heart of the French capital
Art Basel Paris 2024 promises to be one of the most anticipated cultural events on the international art scene, consolidating the success of its first Parisian edition, which took place in 2023. Scheduled from 18 to 20 October 2024 at the famous Grand Palais, the fair will attract artists, collectors and curators from all over the world to celebrate contemporary and modern art in one of the most influential cultural capitals.
A global stage for contemporary
artArt Basel has been synonymous with artistic and commercial excellence in the art world for decades, and the 2024 Paris edition aims to carry on this tradition. As in previous editions, the fair will see the participation of leading international galleries, with over 150 exhibitors presenting works by established artists and new emerging discoveries. In addition to presentations of paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and digital works, the fair will give ample space to performances and site-specific projects, allowing the public to immerse themselves in unique artistic experiences.
The program will be divided into several sections, each dedicated to a specific aspect of the art world. Among the most anticipated sections is the one dedicated to new emerging talents, which will give visibility to young artists from all over the world, and the sections dedicated to historical movements such as Surrealism and Arte Povera, which will offer a contemporary reinterpretation of these currents.
A city in dialogue with art
Art Basel Paris will not be limited to the confines of the Grand Palais. Several iconic places in the capital, including the Domaine national du Palais-Royal and the Petit Palais, will be the setting for a series of side events, public installations and curated exhibitions. These spaces will host monumental works and curatorial projects by internationally renowned artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Niki de Saint Phalle and Thomas Schütte.
The “Oh La La!” project, one of the most innovative initiatives of the fair, will involve 33 galleries that will exhibit unexpected and surprising works inside the Grand Palais. This path aims to offer a dynamic and stimulating artistic experience, enriching the dialogue between art and spectators through unusual combinations of works and artists.
The partnership with Miu Miu and new initiatives
One of the novelties this year is the partnership with Miu Miu, which will curate a special project entitled “Tales & Tellers“, hosted at the Palais d’Iéna. This event is part of the public program of Art Basel Paris and focuses on the relationship between art, fashion and storytelling, in a dialogue between different visual languages.
Another important novelty is the second edition of The Art Basel Shop, a concept store curated by Sarah Andelman, founder of Colette, which will offer an exclusive selection of lifestyle products inspired by art and created in collaboration with contemporary artists. Among the novelties of 2024, there will be a line of products based on the aesthetics of the artistic collective Claire Fontaine, available only during the fair.
An unmissable opportunity for art
loversWith its mix of contemporary art, public events, and the presence of artists of international caliber, Art Basel Paris 2024 is an unmissable event for anyone looking to explore the global art landscape. The fair is not only an opportunity for collectors and gallery owners, but also an opportunity for visitors to get in touch with the latest trends and discover new talents, immersed in a city that breathes art and culture.
Art Basel Paris 2024 is not just an art fair, but a real cultural festival that involves the entire city, celebrating art in all its forms and offering the public an unforgettable experience.
