VILLA 18: architecture in dialogue with the landscape

Not just a home, but a sensory experience, where architecture, nature and art come together in a perfect balance

In the heart of La Moraleja, an exclusive residential area of Madrid, stands Villa 18, an architectural project that combines contemporary design and integration with the landscape. The house is mainly on one level, making the most of the size of the lot and the privileged lake views of the La Moraleja golf course.

In the heart of La Moraleja, an exclusive residential area of Madrid, stands Villa 18, an architectural project that combines contemporary design and integration with the landscape. The house is mainly on one level, making the most of the size of the lot and the privileged lake views of the La Moraleja golf course.

Harmonious spatial organisation
The villa is divided into three distinct volumes, each with a specific function. The living area is divided into two blocks of different heights, arranged in a staggered manner to create a sheltered terrace with a south-east orientation. This outdoor space becomes a point of connection between inside and outside, offering an uninterrupted view of the surrounding natural landscape. The sleeping area, on the other hand, is located in a third separate volume, equipped with a private outdoor area, to ensure greater intimacy.

An entrance hall of character
The interaction between the three volumes gives life to a north-facing entrance courtyard, giving a strong character to the house from the first impact. The geometry of the building, in addition to performing an aesthetic function, has a crucial structural role: it allows large glass openings to be maintained without intermediate supports, ensuring a fluid interaction between inside and outside and offering the possibility of adapting the spaces to future changes of use.

A color palette inspired by nature
The chromatic and material approach of Villa 18 is inspired by a concept of balance and harmony. Like the Inuit, who have over forty terms to describe snow, the designers selected a range of whites with warm shades to define the atmosphere of the house. The choice of materials ranges from natural Colmenar stone to ash wood, passing through brass finishes with shades similar to RAL 9016 and lighting systems with color temperatures around 2,700K. The result is a balanced heterogeneity, designed to instill a sense of serenity and well-being in domestic environments.

Spaces dedicated to well-being
On the lower level of the villa are areas designed for relaxation and body care, including an indoor swimming pool, a gym and multifunctional spaces, all naturally lit by a large skylight. Architectural forms favor curved lines in open spaces, such as terraces, while interiors maintain a more rigorous and orthogonal organization.

A dialogue between art and architecture
The design inspiration is rooted in the work of sculptor Andreu Alfaro, whose formal research combines straight and curved lines to create continuous and fluid knots. Following this philosophy, Villa 18 develops as a dynamic and harmonious path, in which the architectural elements dialogue with each other seamlessly. The swimming pool, for example, integrates with the terrace, which in turn merges with the facades of the building, symbolically closing a spatial cycle.

Villa 18 is not just a home, but a sensory experience, where architecture, nature and art come together in a perfect balance. A place designed to be experienced, but also observed and contemplated.
