Amanjena Residences: the new luxury living between Moroccan craftsmanship and contemporary design

Private villas designed by SAOTA and ARRCC immersed in the quiet at the foot of the Atlas

In the magical setting of Marrakech, among palm trees and centuries-old olive trees, a new chapter in the world of high-end residential design rises: Aman Residences Amanjena, an exclusive collection of private villas designed by the South African studio SAOTA with interiors curated by ARRCC. Housed in the iconic Amanjena resort – whose name means “tranquil paradise” in Sanskrit – these residences represent a fine example of luxury interior design, blending contemporary elegance with traditional Moroccan craftsmanship.
Located just outside the “red city”, and framed by the peaks of the High Atlas, the Amanjena villas offer a living experience in total harmony with the landscape. The project was born as an extension of the Amanjena resort, originally designed by Ed Tuttle in 2000, and takes up its essential approach, based on clean lines, fluid spaces and an atmosphere of profound calm.
The architecture by SAOTA stands out for its spatial purity and intuitive organization of the rooms: from the entrance areas to the internal courtyards, up to the water elements that accompany the path, every detail is designed to evoke a feeling of peace and fluidity. The volumes of the villas are developed around internal gardens, while the terraces and shaded colonnades create a natural transition between closed and open spaces, in full compliance with the Aman philosophy, which enhances light and the link with nature.

The interiors designed by ARRCC are a natural extension of this architectural language. The palette is sober and sophisticated, with the use of textured plasters, local stones and natural woods, enriched with handmade details that tell the story of Moroccan tradition. Each piece of furniture is tailor-made to integrate with the environment: handcrafted furniture, tactile fabrics and elegant finishes give shape to intimate and timeless spaces. The result is an authentic interior design, rooted in the context but open to a contemporary vision of living.
The residences offer absolute privacy and spectacular views of the surrounding landscape: from the snow-capped Atlas Mountains to the greens of the Amelkis golf course, each villa is immersed in a natural setting that dialogues with the architecture in a discreet but powerful way. SAOTA and ARRCC, based in Cape Town, are known for their holistic and location-sensitive approach, and in this project they have also been able to combine luxury, cultural identity and living well-being.
Aman Residences Amanjena
is not just a collection of luxury villas, but a deep and conscious interior design experience, where every aesthetic choice becomes part of a larger story: that of respect for tradition, connection with the land and the desire to offer a new way of experiencing beauty, in its purest and most silent form.
