In the world of contemporary interior design, two projects signed by Garde Hvalsøe tell a shared vision of craftsmanship, balance and functional beauty: Interwoven Bespoke Wardrobe and Koshi-do Armoire. Both express a coherent language, in which Nordic tradition and Japanese aesthetics are masterfully intertwined, transforming natural materials into functional sculptures.
Interwoven Bespoke Wardrobe: the delicacy of woven wood
The Interwoven project was born from the encounter between two traditions of cabinet-making: the Danish and the Portuguese, united by respect for the material and a deep knowledge of the craft. Made of solid walnut by Garde Hvalsøe, the cabinet stands out for the woven veneer doors developed by De La Espada, which give softness, light and texture to the composition.
Every detail reflects precision work and unique tactile sensitivity. The result is a custom-made wardrobe that combines geometric rigor and visual lightness, expressing a timeless aesthetic. “Interwoven” also represents the first collaboration between the two brands, united by common values: slow design, sustainability and authentic craftsmanship.
Koshi-do Armoire: harmony, lightness and spirituality of wood
With the Koshi-do Armoire, Garde Hvalsøe explores a new type of freestanding furniture: a refined interior architecture, made of solid cherry and defined by vertical slats that create a visual rhythm of light and shadow. Designed in collaboration with OEO Studio, this collection interprets the Japanese principles of balance and simplicity, filtered through a Nordic perspective.
Each joint and surface is carefully crafted, testifying to the brand’s commitment to uncompromising craftsmanship quality. The Koshi-do Armoire thus becomes a custom-made furnishing solution capable of blending functionality and sculpture, an object that invites silent contemplation. It is the expression of a continuous dialogue between architecture, matter and light, where the piece of furniture is transformed into an architectural element that furnishes and defines the space.
The essence of Garde Hvalsøe design
Founded in 1990, Garde Hvalsøe continues to embody the values of the Danish artisan tradition, with an approach based on the pursuit of perfection, attention to detail and sincerity of materials. Each project stems from the desire to create tailor-made spaces in which beauty translates into balance and durability. Interwoven and Koshi-do represent two emblematic examples of this philosophy: timeless objects capable of connecting people to the material and the very essence of design.
