For over sixty years, Artemide has been an international point of reference in the design lighting sector, combining technological research, industrial innovation and a profound cultural vision of light. Founded by Ernesto Gismondi, the company has created products that have marked the history of contemporary design, becoming true icons recognized globally.
Among these, Sintesi occupies a special place. Presented for the first time in 1975, it was the first lamp designed by Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide, and today it is re-proposed as a tribute to his design vision and the company’s ability to reinterpret its historical heritage with a modern look. The re-edition of the Sintesi table lamp represents not only a return to the origins, but also a confirmation of the extraordinary relevance of a project born almost fifty years ago.
Conceived as an intelligent modular system, Sintesi is based on a few essential components, capable of generating an entire family of functional and versatile lamps. The tabletop version, now back in production, is the original core of this project and fully embodies its spirit. The structure, made with curved metal elements, expresses the constant search for balance between form and function, a distinctive feature of the Artemide language.
Two “C” profiles of different lengths form a “Y” support which, thanks to a simple opening and closing movement, allows you to adjust the inclination and height. This solution allows a high freedom of light orientation, adapting to different needs of use, from the desk to the living space. The light source, inserted in an adjustable frame with E27 socket, guarantees compatibility with different lighting technologies, ensuring continuity and durability. A reflector and a protective grid complete the project, reinforcing its technical and functional character.
Sintesi also stands out for its construction efficiency and sustainability: the lamp can be easily folded, reducing the footprint and simplifying transport and packaging, in line with an industrial vision attentive to resources and production processes. An aspect that fully reflects Gismondi’s thought, for which design had to meet aesthetic, functional and economic criteria.
Today Artemide re-proposes Sintesi in a new color palette that includes white, blue, green and a new red version, designed to enhance its contemporary character. A re-edition that also makes the lamp ideal as a design gift, perfect for the Christmas holidays.
With the re-edition of Sintesi, Artemide renews a fundamental chapter in its history, reaffirming a philosophy that combines technical innovation, industrial quality and design culture. A balance between engineering and beauty capable of crossing time and continuing to speak to the present.
