From 17 to 19 April 2026, one of the most eagerly awaited events on the international art scene returns to Milan: Miart Milano, the prestigious modern and contemporary art fair that every year attracts collectors, gallery owners, curators and enthusiasts from all over the world. The event, now in its thirtieth edition, will take place in the spaces of the South Wing of the Allianz MiCo, in the CityLife district, consolidating Milan’s role as a European cultural and creative capital.
Directed by Nicola Ricciardi, Miart Milano represents one of the most important platforms for the international art market, offering a meeting point between modern art, contemporary art and new artistic research. The 2026 edition takes on a special symbolic value, celebrating thirty years of history of the event and introducing a new curatorial path capable of combining memory and innovation.
The theme chosen for this edition is “New Directions”, a concept that recalls the idea of exploring new artistic and cultural paths. The title is inspired by John Coltrane’s 1963 jazz album and becomes a metaphor for a vision open to change and dialogue between different languages. The aim is to stimulate reflection on the transformations of art and the role of international art fairs as meeting places between creativity, market and cultural research.
The 2026 edition will welcome around 160 galleries from over 24 countries, confirming the international character of the event and strengthening Miart’s position among Europe’s leading contemporary art fairs . The exhibition spaces will be developed on three levels, encouraging new dialogues between galleries, emerging artists and twentieth-century art historians.
One of the most distinctive aspects of Miart Milano is its ability to relate different eras and languages. Alongside the galleries dedicated to modern art, in fact, there are projects dedicated to international contemporary art, creating an exhibition itinerary that spans decades of artistic research. This structure makes the fair a privileged place for collectors and professionals interested in discovering new talents and rediscovering fundamental figures in the history of art.
The event is also part of the calendar of Milan Art Week, the week dedicated to art that involves museums, foundations, galleries and cultural institutions spread throughout the city. In this context, miart becomes the beating heart of the Milanese art scene, helping to transform Milan into a true international capital of Italian contemporary art.
Thanks to its international dimension, the quality of the participating galleries and the ability to create connections between institutions, collectors and artists, Miart 2026 is confirmed as one of the most relevant events for the contemporary art market. It is not just a trade fair, but a cultural platform capable of telling the transformations of art and anticipating the trends that will define the future of the global art system.
In an increasingly interconnected cultural landscape, Miart Milano therefore represents a laboratory of ideas, a space for comparison between tradition and innovation and an essential point of reference for those who look at the evolution of contemporary art.
