Landscapes of the Imaginary: matter becomes memory in the art of Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti

At the Quadrifoglio Art Gallery in Rho, the new solo exhibition of the artist/sculptor Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti transforms iron into a poetic sign: a journey through sculpture, landscape and memory that invites the viewer to explore the boundaries between real and imaginary

The solo exhibition entitled Landscapes of the Imaginary” by the artist/sculptor Giuliano Cataldo Giancotti, hosted at the Quadrifoglio Art Gallery in Rho (MI), represents an important stage in the artist’s expressive research: a journey that, starting from matter — iron — leads to memory, to the evocation of places suspended between real and imaginary.
Giancotti, born in Bern in 1990 and graduated with honors in Sculpture from the Brera Academy of Fine Arts, lives and works between Milan and Bergamo. His research stems from a constant dialogue with matter, in particular with iron, a material that in his poetics loses its industrial connotation to be transformed into language, sign, memory. In “Landscapes of the Imaginary”, iron becomes a narrative line capable of defining horizons and mental profiles, evoking interior architectures and landscapes suspended between dream and concreteness.
The exhibition, inaugurated on October 25, 2025, offers a visual and sensory journey where each work dialogues with the exhibition space in an intimate and meditative way. Giancotti’s sculptures do not represent real landscapes, but inner visions, maps of memory that are made up of traces, voids and solids. Each iron line becomes a story: an essential gesture that combines formal rigor and poetic sensitivity.

In the exhibition project conceived for the Quadrifoglio Gallery, the artist invites the viewer to a contemplative experience. The landscape, reduced to its essence, is no longer a simple representation but a threshold of perception, a fragment of collective memory that is regenerated through the gaze of the observer. Matter becomes memory, and memory becomes space.
Giancotti’s art moves in a suspended dimension, poised between sculpture and drawing, between form and absence. Iron, an apparently rigid and cold element, acquires an unexpected lightness in his hands, becoming a poetic line, a trace, a breath. The landscapes of the imagination are thus born from a synthesis of strength and fragility, of matter and spirit.
The exhibition is confirmed as a precious opportunity to get closer to an art form that speaks of memory, identity and transformation. Giancotti invites us to slow down, to look beyond the surface of things, to recognize in the humblest materials a possibility of transcendence.
Until November 29, 2025, the rooms of the gallery host a path made up of signs and silences, light and shadow, in which each work is a threshold to be crossed. An invitation to stop, observe, remember: because in Giuliano Giancotti’s “Landscapes of the Imaginary”, matter truly becomes memory.
