The rules for having a clean and tidy home

Relaxation and quality of life at home are linked to the concept of order: here are some tips

The pleasure of returning home in the evening after a day of work and finding everything in order is priceless. Indeed yes: it just requires a little organization, stuffed with good habits. Cleaning should not become an obsession, even if it cannot be included among the favorite activities, especially when there are small children or animals in the rooms. We always have time numbered, which is why it will be useful to learn to take advantage of its scraps to make some virtuous gestures that – put together – will make our apartment more livable. Cleaning the house may seem boring, but the feeling of welcoming family and friends in the best possible way as well as the pleasure of relaxing in the evening without having to do ‘extra’ work will reward the effort made. It is bad to see objects out of place, linen stacked in the bathroom or dull floors. The gesture of tidying up is undoubtedly decisive: when we use an object, read a book or take something from the shelves, they must then always return to their place (to avoid the ‘risk’ effect on the countertops). Coats and bags cannot all fit on the coat rack in the hallway: choose the ones you wear most frequently, the rest goes into the closet. The feeling of walking on the clean, thanks to the homogeneity of shine and color, can be obtained by using the best floor scrubber. Relaxation and quality of life at home are linked to the concept of order: do your best for a surplus of well-being.

Planning is the key: here are the tips
The moment you realize that your efforts, as you are doing them, do not allow you to always have your home at the top, you need to think of a ‘plan of attack’: plan small big activities to do constantly. First of all, get rid of old magazines, scattered sheets and junk that are just there to gather dust. It will be much easier (as well as faster) to tidy up and clean surfaces. If you have small children, choose a multidisciplinary table, with a blackboard and washable drawing surface, so that they are discouraged from pounced with the marker on the walls of the living room and bedroom. If every time you look around you notice dust or dirt in the corners, stains and misplaced clothes, do not give in to the temptation of the siren who says ‘I’ll fix it tomorrow’. Accumulating clutter is wrong: fold your clothes, clear the kitchen table and always vacuum the crumbs from the sofa. Also regularly check the expiration dates of the products in the fridge, to avoid nasty surprises. A quick wipe of the bathroom surfaces, perhaps just before going to bed, can be useful to start the new day better. It is clear that, in order for everything to go in the right direction, all the inhabitants of the house will have to make a contribution: plan activities such as loading the dishwasher, separate waste collection and washing machine shifts in order to delegate and make the various steps more harmonious. Finally, a couple of routine tips: making the bed takes 5-6 minutes of your time and can change the face of the room (here you have to relax, not immerse yourself in chaos) and always clean that table or that surface the moment it gets dirty.
