THE REFLECTIONS OF THE SOUL – Michele Tombolini

Press Release - Michele Tombolini The Reflections of the Soul - Triennale Estate 18 July 2024

Milan – On Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 6:30 p.m., the Salone d’Onore of Triennale Milano welcomes an evening to present and touch the work of Michele Tombolini, which ranges from painting to collage to photography, through his latest works that are part of the cycle I Riflessi dell’Anima.

The event, which is part of the Triennale Estate calendar, is an opportunity to discover Tombolini’s eclectic, bursting, but at the same time delicate, artistic creation, which manifests through art, that subtle and precious testimony of life, contemporary society, the human condition, of which it is an expression and evolution. The primitivist current, of which he feels he is a precursor, is that breath that creates intense pictorial works, which reflect and redesign the human figure by capturing its childish, childlike aspect, making use of an introspective power that allows the interlocutor to grasp its inner emotions.

Soul and emotions
are one, a reciprocal mirror that allow the artist to open a new artistic cycle that includes the work-tapestry Human Error, where the preciousness of gold meets the fragility of the child in formation, once again the protagonist of Tombolini’s production, as a reflection of material synthesis that wants to deepen the difficulties born from violence and problems that are often the reality of many children.

A theme that also returns in Rifugio d’Orato, a 2023 painting, where gold is enriched with butterflies, which often fly in Michele Tombolini’s works, as a symbol against aggression. The works on display want to highlight a reflection of the soul that is very important for the artist and of which his art has always taken charge, namely the fight against any abuse of minors, which is bitterly rampant even in the phases of growth. What are the emotions behind traumatic events in childhood? How do these events mark the emotional growth of the individual? In the mirrors of the soul, brought into vogue here, a subjective interpretation of an inner truth emerges in order to then be able to face the daily reality that is freed from an unjustly guilty, introspective silence, where the wound has an emblematic and courageous butterfly as a plaster, which frees itself from silence by scarring, communicating its personal and continuous silent flight.

I Riflessi dell’Anima, also sees the loop projection of the video Indelible Marks made in 2016, a short film that lasts about 15 minutes.

The presentation at the Triennale Milano thus inaugurates a new path of artistic-emotional reflections that Michele Tombolini will enrich from time to time to express the voice of the soul, the emotions linked to social problems, which whisper to him that personal artistic interpretation made up of totemic figures, in a choice of different expressive techniques that vary from painting, to collage, to photography to which is added the use of Venetian fabrics and brocades enhanced by gold leaf.

Michele Tombolini’s participation in Triennale Estate was wanted and organized by Francesca Parvizyar, who takes care of the artist’s international relations, opening the doors for new artist projects overseas, in particular the USA and Canada, starting next September 2024.

I Riflessi dell’Anima has at its side Italmondo, a leader in logistics and international transport for more than 70 years, and Artistinct – This is Art, an artistic and cultural ecosystem committed to elevating the world art scene.

The event is also supported by the Venturini Baldini winery, a historic company located on the Matidilche Hills in Emilia and which stands out for its production approach in full respect of nature and its ecosystem, from which prestigious sparkling wines and a sophisticated and varied selection of organic wines that represent the diversity of Emilia are born.
